General gray cast iron cylinder end covers have low strength and are easy to break, and cast steel cylinder end covers are more difficult to produce, more costly, and higher risk with casting defect.
Ductile iron combines the low cost of gray cast iron and the high strength of cast steel, is more impact-resistant as well. It is an ideal choice for most hydraulic or pneumatic products or equipment.

Sealing Method Of Cylinder End Cover

1. Face Static Seal with Cylinder Barrel
Sealed by gaskets(Rubber, PTFE...) compressed between end cover and cylinder barrel.
Our ductile iron cylinder end covers are precisely machined for excellent flatness and smooth surface, ensuring tight fitting and no leakage.
2. Groove Type Dynamic Seal with Shaft
Grooves inside the bore fit oil-seals, O-rings, U-seals and combined seals for dynamic sealing of shafts / piston rods.
Our end covers are manufactured strictly in accordance with the drawing dimensions and tolerances, with precise dimensions and good concentricity, which can effectively prevent the wear and jamming of the sealing parts.
Cylinder End Cover: Casting Vs Forging
Casting: Casting is a near-net shape metal forming process, which has highest material utilization and lower production cost.
Casting is available for manufacturing cylinder end covers in large sizes, irregular shapes and complex structures.
Ductile cast iron delivers excellent vibration absorption performance, so cast ductile iron cylinder end covers are ideal for most of normal working conditions and medium-to-high pressure hydraulic/pneumatic environments.
Forging: Forged cylinder end covers have outstanding strength, great resistance to impact, high pressure and fatigue. With few or even no internal defect, they enjoy longer service life, are suitable for high-end, heavy-duty and ultra-high pressure working conditions.
