What are Blow Bars
Blow bars, or impact hammers, are key wear parts used for impact crushers, they are installed on the rotor of crusher, work as a striking blade for material crushing.
Working principle of impact crusher blow bars:
Blow bars are fixed on the rotor, rotating with rotor at high speed. It strikes the stone violently, pushing the stone towards the inner side of the impact crusher body to impact liner; stone rebounded and was struck again by the blow bar, repeatedly impacting and breaking into sand and gravel aggregates.
Shata Machinery is a professional foundry specializing in OEM high chrome/ manganese blow bars for impact crusher. Our specialties are high manganese steel blow bars and high chrome blow bars.
We accept orders based on customers' drawings and samples, with complete production lines and strict quality control, competitive prices and full technical support.

Shapes of Blow Bars for Impact Crushers

- Rectangle long straight bar: Simple structure, easy to cast; Single-sided wear.
- Curved: Arc outline outside, and straight line inner side, fan-shapped; arc working surface has bigger contacting area, uniform wear, and high crushing efficiency. It is more used on european PFW, NP series crushers
- T-shape: Wider wear-resistant surface, excellent impact resistance, both sides are workable. T-shape blow bars are suitable for large, hard rock, heavy-duty impact crushers.
- H-shape: wider at two ends, and thinner at the middle, light weight with enough strength. H-shape blow bars are designed for high-speed, concrete recycling, soft or medium hard material impact crushers.
- Axe-shape: Blow bar looks like an axe, wide and thick on the top. Axe-shape blow bar has a strong feeding capacity, and high impact toughness, is ideal for impact crushers that handling large size, hard rocks.
Blow Bars Material: High Chrome Vs High Manganese
There are significant differences in properties between high chrome cast iron and high manganese steel. The two types of impact crusher blow bars cannot be used interchangeably, or will cause rapid worn, break, abnormal vibration and uneven aggregate quality. So Material must be correctly chosen according to material being processed during designing.
| High Chrome | High Manganese | |
| Typical material grades | Cr26, Cr28 | Mn13, Mn18Cr2 |
| Key features |
High hardness Extremely strong wear resistance Long service life Weaker impact resistance |
The greater the impact, the harder it becomes Ultra high toughness, not easy to break High impact resistance Weaker wear resistance with soft and light-wear conditions |
| Hardness | HRC58-65 |
HB180~220 without impact Over HRC50 after impact because of surface layer cold work hardening |
| Applicable blow bar shape | Rectangle long straight bar, Curved | T-shape, Axe-shape |
| Applicable processing material | Limestone, bluestone, dolomite, shale, coal gangue, construction waste, concrete crushing (soft material, medium soft material, recycled aggregate) | Granite, basalt, river pebbles, hard ores, large raw stones and hard rocks |
| Casting Process | EPC(Evaporative pattern casting or lost foam casting), sand casting | EPC(Evaporative pattern casting or lost foam casting), sand casting |
| Heat Treatment | Quenching & Tempering | Water toughening (Solution + water cooling_ |
