Product Description
Forged wind turbine bearing rings are large, annular components designed to withstand axial forces, radial forces, or overturning moments.
Installed on the slewing bearing (slewing ring), main bearing, or gearbox bearing of wind turbines, they serve to support loads, provide structural connections, and facilitate relative rotation between wind turbine components.

Durable Bearing Rings With High Performance For Wind Power
High-Strength Rolled Ring Forged Bearing Rings
The primary load borne by forged wind turbine bearing rings is hoop stress acting in the tangential direction.
During the ring-rolling process, metal flows along the circumference of the bearing ring, resulting in continuous metal grain flow aligned identically with the hoop stress.
This effectively prevents the weakest planes perpendicular to the grain flow from bearing the maximum tensile load, thereby avoiding cracks caused by the transverse tearing of the grain structure.
Professional Heat Treatment Improves L10 Life of Bearing Rings
Uneven raceway hardness often stems from uneven hardness in the quenched and tempered substrate, which inherently causes scattered hardness values after induction hardening.
By employing computer-controlled, multi-point precision temperature regulation during quenching and tempering, temperature differences are controlled within ±3°C.
In this way, the bearing rings achieve uniform hardness (±3HRC) without soft zones and consistent depth of hardened layer.
This can effectively prevent premature pitting, spalling, and peeling, thereby extending the bearings' L10 rolling contact fatigue life.
High-Purity, Reliable Raw Materials
Vacuum-degassed alloy steel (VD/VOD steel) is procured from certified steel mills. This steel features low levels of hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen, minimizing the risk of hydrogen embrittlement cracking and reducing internal defects such as porosity and oxide inclusions; this ensures more stable heat treatment performance for forged wind turbine bearing rings.
The Material Test Certificate (MTC) will be delivered together with the goods.
Zero Out-of-Tolerance Risks
We identify thermal stress concentration zones in advance and design specialized heat treatment tooling to prevent out of roundness, warpage, and other deformations of bearing rings caused by thermal stress;
Employ a three-stage machining process (rough machining, finish machining, and finish grinding) to ensure uniform stress relief;
Set baseline machining parameters based on the midpoint of the tolerance range to minimize the proportion of parts at the dimensional limits.
Thus our forged wind turbine bearing rings deliver higher precision and superior dimensional stability, effectively guaranteeing their fatigue life.
Applications on Wind Turbines
Our custom forged wind turbine bearing rings are compatible with the full range of wind turbines from 1MW to 18MW, covering medium and small onshore turbines as well as large fixed and floating offshore wind turbine units.
1
Slewing bearing rings mainly include yaw bearing rings and pitch bearing rings.
We can manufacture forged inner and outer rings in various structures based on drawings, including single-row or double-row four-point contact ball slewing bearings, three-row roller slewing bearings, and crossed-roller slewing bearings.
2
We custom manufacture forged main bearings for wind turbines, including tapered roller, spherical roller, and cylindrical roller types. A wide selection of alloy steels are available.
We possess extensive experience in producing ultra-large, thin-walled bearing rings with integral flanges.
3
Gearbox bearing rings are subjected to heavy loads, alternative loads, and impact. Precise control of heat treatment during production is essential to balance surface hardness with core toughness.
Generator bearing rings are prone to electrical pitting on the raceways due to shaft current corrosion; therefore, controlling compositional segregation during production is a critical priority.
Our Forging Process
Our factory independently manufactures forged wind turbine bearing rings with diameters ranging from 500mm to 6000mm, utilizing a combined process of hydraulic free forging and bidirectional radial-axial seamless ring rolling.
1. Free Forging and Ring Rolling
This is a multi-step forming process from steel blocks to dense structure ring-shaped bearing ring blanks, covering material cutting, preheating, free forging (upsetting & punching), and ring rolling.

2. Post-Forging Heat Treatment: Anneal or normalize the forged bearing ring blanks to relieve thermal stresses generated during forging, and lower hardness for rough machining.
3. Rough Machining
4. Precise Heat Treatment: This is a critical step in the production of bearing rings; the supplier's expertise in heat treatment directly determines the product's performance and service life.
5. Finish Machining with Tight Tolerances
6. Raceway Surface Hardening
7. Finish Grinding
8. Surface Treatment, Inspection & Testing
